Meet the Staff

Clayton Childers

Interim Pastor

I served churches in the South Carolina Conference for 10 years before I was hired to work at the United Methodist Board of Church and Society in Washington. I served there as Director of Conference Relations and as Director of Advocacy for the Imagine No Malaria Campaign.  I was there for 19 years, retired just before Covid hit, Feb 1, 2020.  Since then, I’ve been an active member of Grace UMC, Manassas – singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, helping with ESL classes, and in other ways.  I have also been happy to serve as needed on the district level.  I filled in as interim at Dumfries for a month in 2022.  Served from Sept – December 2023 at Pleasant Valley UMC in Chantilly and have led retreats and dialogue groups when asked.

As Interim pastor, I really believe I can be most helpful by trying to keep things running smoothly, not making any big changes, continuing the worship traditions familiar to the congregation, and being available as needed for pastoral care concerns.

Grace and Peace, Clayton
